Heh, heh! Y'all had to know this was coming from me, given this week's theme. Yup, my best surfing wipe out shots! Wipe outs are not only Oops but Ouch as well. My buddy Marty Casey came out of the water one day saying, "I have a headache, with all those waves bopping me on the head." Ayuh! Definitely ouch!

ouch, dude. gnarly wipe out. lol.
ReplyDeleteThose are some FABULOUS pics, Roy! wow. And the song's gonna be in my head all day...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wipe outs!! And the location is? Yes, assuming it's the Atlantic seaboard out side of Newport....but beach location....I know, I know....I need details incase I ever get there again! (I was at a GREAT surf beach close to PeaceDale RI...the sand was like flour under my toes!...OK another subject someother time. Peace!
ReplyDeleteThanks folks. Holly, those were taken at Ochre Point, off the end of Ruggles Ave.
ReplyDeleteThis is really perfect.
ReplyDeleteYou've captured the Oops.
I feel for ya! Having caught an inverted wave and gotten thrown into the sand on my head before I could get my hands to help, I know full well what a wave can do. Snapped my neck and cut open my eye in the process. I probably should have read the warning signs that were everywhere...
ReplyDelete...fun post...love the music too!
ReplyDeleteFantastic action shots, Roy. I feel the salty spray.
ReplyDeleteHang ten, dude! "Cayabunga...Wipe out!" Yep, it's in my head now.
ReplyDeleteReally cool pictures of some very cool dudes. Thank you for this pleasure!
ReplyDeleteTalk about "takin' a header"; bogus dude! And cool video! Tho' I only had this tune on a 45.
ReplyDeleteReally nice action photos. They just scream "summer"!
ReplyDeleteGreat pix and great video! I can and have watched surfers for hours on end. I've even been to the InternationalSurfing Hall of Fame in Huntington Beach. (I was passing through and couldn't resist...) The Rendezvous Ballroom Reunion" CDs are great!
ReplyDeleteI was here early this morning and intended to come back. I'm glad you visited me and left a note so I was reminded.
ReplyDeleteGreat piece of music - so identifiable.
The surfin' shots are rad!
I don't know you yet, so I didn't know you were a surfer dude. Fun stuff!
Kat
Excellent!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely ouch lol lol
ReplyDeleteHappy TT
xoxo
Fab pics, and water DOES hurt when it hits hard!
ReplyDeletei couldn't surf my way out of a paper bag.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much everybody!
ReplyDelete¡¡¡Vicky!!! Thanks for stopping by!
Sub - Yeah, I watched that guy in the top left shot do a perfect face plant into that wave. Ouch!
Poetikat - I am most definitely not a surfer dude! I take pictures of the surfers, and whenever big surf moves in before or after a storm there's a whole gallery of us who show up there off Ruggles Ave. with our telephoto lenses and tripods/monopods. But I'm not crazy enough to fling myself into that cold, cold water and have it fling me about on a totally inadequate slab of fiberglass!
Dot-Com - Yeah, I was kind of hoping we were going to have a good surf day when you were here, but as you saw, it was pretty calm. Oh well...
brian said it best....gnarly dude!!
ReplyDeleteoh my now I have the wipe out earworm! whoops!
Haha the guy in the wetsuit looks like a gnarly ninja! The water must have been cold! Great shots. Strange for Aussies to see surfers in full wet or dry suits. Ours wear shorties in the winter!
ReplyDeleteWe've seen that last one before, haven't we?
ReplyDeleteStill excellent.
That's just scary.
ReplyDeleteKim - My earworm came when somebody posted Britney doing "Oops! I Did It Again". Argh! BTW, when I was a kid that drum riff from "Wipe Out!" was what all the wannabe drummers beat out on desks, schoolbooks, etc.
ReplyDeleteBaino - Wetsuits are a must here. Some of those shots were taken in Winter, our best surfing season, and the water then hangs around 36ºF/2ºC. Even in late Summer the water only gets into the mid 60s (about 17º - 18ºC). I have shots of surfers in shorts and either t-shirts or barechested, but it was usually late August or early September, and even then those particular surfers didn't stay in the water much longer than half an hour.
Steph - Yeah, I know. But it's one of the best shots I've ever gotten, and I like to show it off. Heh, heh!
Desk-drumming to "Wipe-Out!" You said it!
ReplyDeleteOh that has to hurt, oops, I mean.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of a brave person doing that.
Love the song. Thank you for pics and song.
God bless.
Most excellent video!!! The shots timed with the drum solos - Cowabunga! Dude! And also your pics; that second one, most oopsy!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the late show, but I never get to everybody on these things...uhh, oops!Anyhow, I still beat that drum solo out on the table at work, given a slow moment. :-)
