And here's a video slideshow of my best surfing shots. They were all taken off Ochre Point off the end of Ruggles Ave., where conditions tend to build up the best waves in the area. As you'll see from the pictures. They were taken in both Winter and Summer. As I've noted before, Winter is our best surfing season because of the increased frequency and power of storms moving up the Atlantic coast. The music for the soundtrack is "Udu Chant" from Mickey Hart's 1991 CD Planet Drum.

Wow! What a great way to start the day. Super photos, Roy. Really amazing.
ReplyDeleteAnd Planet Drum!! Where is my copy, I wonder? And look at your playlist. I leave for a few days, and it's a whole 'nother world.
I need more coffee to face the workaday world. Have a great day.
How can anyone surf in Newport without a wet suit?!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, County Sligo in Ireland has a surfing scene.
Great playlist! What is the widget?
Thanks tut-tut! I've been following Mickey's percussion adventures with Zakir Hussein and Baba Mal for ages, and when I was putting the slideshow together "Udu Chant" was running in my head, so I used it. Those driving drums seemed to "imitate" the driving power of the surf!
ReplyDeleteK- So does Cornwall. Apparently New Quay is a HUGE surfing center. As to the wet suit, the water does kinda warm up some by the end of the Summer, and the young and adventurous shed the wetsuit for a month or so.
As for the widget, just click the link on the player, which will take you to the divShare website. Then when you set up an account and put together a playlist (or if you just want to share one song), copy the embed code and paste it into Blogger's HTML widget. Bingo! Although you'll probably have to go into the code and adjust the sizes to fit the spot; I did.
great slide show!!
ReplyDeletewow I haven't pulled out my copy of planet drum in forever, thanks for the reminder.... mickey is great - what an ambassador he's been for world music...
thanks for the holiday.... now it's time to quit playing and get on with the day!
