This female posed for me on Sunday while I was on my photo safari. She seemed to want to have her picture taken; she'd flit off frequently but always return to the same branch on a Black Walnut tree.
By the way, last week I made a big mistake identifying gender in Hummingbirds. You can read my explanation and corrections here.

She's a beauty. She does look as though she's posing for just you.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a hummingbird sit still.
ReplyDeleteI have a flock of hummers coming to my 8 or 10 feeders and I love them passionately.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are simply gorgeous. I often see them sitting on a twig next to a feeder digesting or waiting till hunger strikes again but I am never fast enough to get the camera. Could never get shots like yours anyway.
Aw...she's adorable! You can see her cute little personality in that second shot! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! It is somewhat unusual to see them so still.
ReplyDeleteHow can something so substantially beautiful have so little substance and weight that it makes no impression on that branch? Wonderful.
