Autumnal Equinox

Miantonomi Park, 11/21/2007

For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together.
For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.
- Edwin Way Teale

"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns." - George Eliot

"Autumn is the eternal corrective. It is ripeness and color and a time of maturity; but it is also breadth, and depth, and distance. What man can stand with autumn on a hilltop and fail to see the span of his world and the meaning of the rolling hills that reach to the far horizon?" - Hal Borland

O Autumn, laden with fruit, and stained
With the blood of the grape, pass not, but sit
Beneath my shady roof; there thou may'st rest,
And tune thy jolly voice to my fresh pipe;
And all the daughters of the year shall dance!
Sing now the lusty song of fruit and flowers.
- William Blake, To Autumn, 1783

  2. Well, I like autumn. Its colors (yellow/orange) generate an atmosphere of brightness/happiness which happens to be my feeling right now.

    Although I feel like sharing my happiness but at the same time the other me is pulling me into secretiveness. Perhaps it is the fear factor which can be infinite.

    Anyway, what is expressed now is good enough for the time being.

    Happy blogging.

  6. ...beautiful photo, Roy, and I loved the quotes as well. Matty just finished reading Silas Marner, so I think he will appreciate the George Eliot quote. I'll pass it on to him.
