Out and About Yesterday

I went walking yesterday, seeing as it would be the last rainless day for at least a week. I took a lot of pictures, but most of them were experiments that didn't work. However, I got these three, which I'm pleased with - another photogenic Snowy Egret down by the Green Bridge on Gooseneck Cove, and two macro shots from different angles of some Indigobush growing by the road.

Also, a quick note - I have a new entry up on Citizen K's Just A Song blog, this one exploring the song "Over the Rainbow", with videos of Judy Garland, Jane Monheit, and my favorite, Eva Cassidy. Check it out when you get a chance.

  1. ...love the Snowy Egret...... :-)
The design on the Indigobush is very cool in macro. I love the colors and its form. I love it when something so beautiful is growing by the roadside, wild.

The photos are awesome. It's amazing how much differently anything looks when you look up close.

  4. Thanks everybody!

Tony, I use a Canon PowerShot S5 IS, which is more than a point-and-shoot but not quite an SLR. I can attach things like wide-angle and telephoto lenses (I used my Raynox 2.2x telephoto on the Snowy Egret). It lets me shoot in manual mode, which means I set shutter speed, f/stop, ISO speed, white balance, etc. It also has two built-in macro modes (so I don't have to buy an attachable macro lens). I generally only use the super-macro mode, which lets me put the lens of the camera right up on the subject if need be. The Indigobush pictures were shot in super-macro mode.
