There's certainly a lot of blue in my world!
This week's videos were inevitable, being the absolute Blues freak that I am. But I had to deliberately narrow the field or this post would get positively unwieldy! So I've limited it to my favorite Blues guitarists playing their signature pieces. The first is an absolute classic - B.B. King playing "How Blue Can You Get?"
The next is the late, great Albert Collins playing "Lights Are On but Nobody's Home"; it's one of several of his signature pieces ("I Ain't Drunk, I'm Just Drinkin'" is another), but it includes a lot of his signature stylistic gestures, especially singing along with his guitar riffs. Great stuff!
And last but certainly not least, Stevie Ray Vaughan and "The Sky Is Crying". Not a live clip this time (all the live ones on YouTube are horrible!), but a tribute slideshow to mourn the loss of this terrific talent. Enjoy!

ReplyDeletehappy theme thursday!
Bluetiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Roy,
ReplyDeleteI am now so in love with blue hydrangeas, mine are pink but a few times they have been a lighter blue, yours are a deep beautiful blue and the blue chicory, awesome. I love the blue birds and the blue ocean and that picture of blue will be cool when finished. Plus what better thing to do then listen to the blues.
You are awesome to post them for us. Thank you so very much.
God bless.
nice....I'm working on getting my hydrangea to bloom that deep blue...still need a little more acid it think!
ReplyDeletenice photos as always!
nice. loving the SRV...and some beautiful pics roy that first one is so vibrant...happy tt!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo and mix of the blues greats. Saw BB King perform on his 80th birthday. He is the king of blues. My Theme Thursday is HERE .
ReplyDeleteAwesome blues. I love the hydrangea, it's Clare's birth flower. (Hmmm forgot you're a day behind!)
ReplyDeletebeautiful blue shots.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the woman painting, the "study in blue."
ReplyDeleteAnd that's some great blues music. Have you seen the movie "The Commitments"? If not, I highly recommend it. It was a real sleeper, released in 1987. They call the music "soul," but some of it is really bluesy, and all of it it great. Don't be put off by the fact that these are a bunch of Irish white folk. They're "black" and they're proud!
Is she painting the scene, or is the scene painting her? Happy TT. -J
ReplyDeleteI could happily drown in that first photo. Great musical choices, as always!
ReplyDeleteArgh! The Collins is "skipping" a bit. I'll go over to You Tube to finish it...
ReplyDeleteGreat mix of photos and musical blues... and I must say, your photography has always been impressive, but it seems like you've been improving, which is no mean feat!
ReplyDeleteFabulous collection Roy, but I had difficulty getting passed that first photograph : the colour just grabs you and makes you want to stare into it.
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots, all of them. The blues in the photo of the woman painting are otherworldly! & some nice blues too!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing quite like a blue flower. Every morning I go out and gaze at my blue delphinium, knowing that the color will soon fade.
ReplyDeleteThank-you for these!
