I'm getting stale. I've been shooting the same scenes over and over. True, they've been changing with the season, but although the colors may change, the setting and perspective is all the same. So today I did what I usually do when I need to get a new perspective - I shot in black & white. Unfortunately the landscape has blanded out some, and too many hues are of the same value and there was a distinct lack of contrast and interest in a lot of what I shot. But these three shots worked.

I did this a while back - and got addicted. For me "photoshopping" a picture usually means hitting the "convert to black and white" button. I've taken to shooting most of the time time with b&w in mind. Perhaps I have a contrary streak, but with all the sophisticated things you can do to digital images with software it's rather satisfying to go back to basics and do with the software things one simply did in a darkroom. Keep it simple. Perhaps, too, it's because I always wanted to do darkroom stuff but knew i'd be useless at it - all fingers and thumbs.
