The soft light after this morning's storm really brought out Nature's colors, and especially the colors of this pink Dogwood in the front yard.
There's something almost oriental about Dogwoods, and especially the Japanese look as portrayed in Europe by Art Nouveau and Post-Impressionism, when Japanese art made a huge impression in the salons of Paris and London. Since it bloomed this Spring this tree has somehow reminded me of Vincent van Gogh's Almond Blossoms.

ReplyDelete...I wish I had a dogwood in my yard. They are in full bloom around here, and they are always so striking. Your photos are gorgeous. Great choice on the painting you posted for Van Gogh. That one doesn't show up quite as often as the others, and I love it.

ReplyDeletethese re so beautiful. I also lived in VA and we had dogwood, tulip trees, magnolia, azalea, camellia (I miss so much), gardenia and more more more. The most beautiful Spring is in the South just as the most beautiful Fall is in New England and Summer in SoCal. Winter? Well, you have to like it and then pick.
