I went out last night well after dark to take pictures on Bellevue Ave. for this week's Theme Thursday. Everything in tomorrow's post will be in black & white, but this shot worked so well in color, too, that I thought I'd post it today as a preview.
And now for an extra treat... Did you know that Mickey and Minnie Mouse are 81 today? Yup! Disney's first sound cartoon, "Steamboat Willie", featuring Mickey with an appearance by Minnie, premiered on this day in 1928. So naturally I had to go find the cartoon on YouTube. Enjoy!

...beautiful night photo! I've never tried anything like that...
ReplyDeleteMickey and Minnie are 81! Glad you found the video. Love that bouncy style of the first cartoons and all the sound effects, but boy....times were different! Swinging the cat by his tail and pulling the piglets tails--don't think that would make it past PETA today!
I haven't seen a really cool window dressing in years.
ReplyDeleteAah indeed beautiful photo. and i still remember this video its a classic one. can you share some more photos?
ReplyDeleteThat picture looks so warm and inviting. I'm ready for the holiday madness to begin!
ReplyDeleteHi Roy! I saw your comment on Mouse's blog post and had to pop over. The Arden Theatre premiered a new show last season called Something Intangible which re-told the story of the Disney brothers and the making of Fantasia. Because of Copywright they couldn't use any disney names or characters but the show was soooooo gooood! It won a bunch of awards at the Philly Barrymores. Great pic by the way, looking forward to the TT post.
ReplyDeleteOkay, just have to add that my kids (8 and 10) and I (slightly older) just watched the video and we all loved it. So glad you shared it.
ReplyDeleteWindow to the world... that would be my monitor with your photos. Beautiful and fascinating.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the hat shots!!
I seem to recall that my Uncle Harry was a window dresser at some stage in the 1930s. I love the idea of the night shots for this weeks' theme - wish I'd have thought of that.
ReplyDeleteOoo, Roy, you make a darned handsome Indy!! Love the hat thing. I might just have to model some of my collection, too.
